In 2025 we brought back the Sundowner to the race calendar. It was a huge event and although we had a few issues it was ultimately successful.

On Saturday 12th September 2026 we are returning for our second year. Taking on the learning from 2025 and making improvements to ensure everyone has a great experience. If you took part in 2025 we hope to see you return and if you haven't yet been part of the Sundowner, don't miss out and join us for an epic event.

Choose from three distances with mechanical and medical support, as well as the cheer of the spectators. The Allerthorpe Triathlons are designed to be a fun, friendly and relaxed events with friendly marshalls while also being a fast course to hit those PB's.

Swim

Swim in the shallow and clear open water man-made lake within Allerthrope Lakeland Park. The water depth is between 5ft and 7ft, giving entrants the option to stand in areas if needed. This venue is also well sheltered from winds, meaning the water is flat and not choppy.

Cycle

The bike portion of this race has triathletes take on a flat and potentially fast open road course around the quiet country lanes of the park and local villages. This is open to traffic throughout is well signed and is a non-draft legal bike leg for all competitors.

Run

The picturesque flat trail course around the lake creates a spectator friendly route to keep you going when you need it most. This year we will be avoiding the canal tow path and the route is adjusted to suit.

To participate in this event, you are required to be a member of British Triathlon and hold a race licence. You must either become a Core or Ultimate annual member here https://www.britishtriathlon.org/join or purchase a single use Race Pass for your race when purchasing your event ticket for an additional £8.00.

We permit our events to ensure we meet the safety requirements of British Triathlon and make the event as safe for everyone as we possibly can. By doing this and you purchasing a race pass or membership everyone has sufficient liability insurance in the event of an incident.
