About York Dungeon Standard Admission

York Dungeon Standard Admission at York Dungeon takes you through 2,000 years of York’s darker history in an immersive live show. The experience uses live actors, dark historical scenes and special effects to bring the city’s past to life as you move through its most notorious moments.

Along the way, you encounter Vikings and their Saxon enemies, meet figures including Guy Fawkes and Isabella Billington, and pass through scenes inspired by the black plague and a fearsome torture chamber. The attraction is designed to be seen, heard and, as the description notes, smelled as well.

This is a mix of history, theatre and shock humour, with the experience described as a chance to laugh, learn and scream through York’s ‘orrible history.
