Haddo House in Aberdeen will screen the movie Death on the Nile on 29 August 2026 at 19:00. The evening includes mini tours highlighting the venue's links to Egypt and the Nile. Ticket prices range from £5.19 to £13.48.
Agatha Christie's mystery in Haddo House. WITH ADDED pre-movie mini tours, illustrating Haddo's intriguing links with the Nile & Egypt.
Celebrating Agatha Christie . . this year being the 50th anniversary of Christie's death, Haddo House is delighted to be screening the second and final of our Agatha Christie films, Death on the Nile, starring Peter Ustinov . . . in our opinion, the best version! Winner of 5 awards including Best Film, Best Actor & Best Costume Design, and nominated for 5 more too.
The paddle steamer's passenger list is graced immeasurably by a glittering cast incuding Maggie Smith, Angela Landsbury, Bette Davis, Mia Farrow, David Niven, Simon MacCorkindale, Celia Imrie, Sam Wanamaker and Saeed Jaffrey.
It takes place in Egypt in 1937, mostly on a period paddle steamer - sumptous and opulent - a floating palace for luxury travellers and Christie's honeymoon couple. No surpise then that Haddo's Library is the perfect place to screen this movie classic.
"... a faithfull and lavish adapation of Christies's gem"
AND, adding an extra dimension to the evening, and for a special few (those quickest off the mark!) we have created a mini film-linked tour, highlighting the family's relationship with the Nile and with Egypt.
Lord & Lady Aberdeen, who created the Haddo House you see today, honeymooned in Egypt and along the Nile in 1877-78. They were away for a year and the stories you will hear of their adventures, the people they met, and their philanthropy, will both surprise and delight; plus you'll gain a deeper insight into some pieces from their travels.
This mini tour, created especially to accompany the film, has limited capacity - only 15 tickets are available for each of the two time slots. Snap them up, and don’t miss out on this exploration into travel in Egypt and along the Nile in bygone days.
This movie screening will be in Haddo’s sumptuously atmospheric and elegant Library. No better location to sit back and enjoy the film version of one of Britain’s most classic pieces of literature.
Book your tickets for some elegance, opulance and a First Class murder, for this Christie classic at Haddo House.
And remember… like the paddle steamer on the Nile, Haddo's Library holds a limited number of people, so full steam ahead with your ticket booking!
In line with the UK government's Great British Summer Savings scheme, and since this movie is Cert. PG, the ticket prices for this event includes a temporary VAT reduction from 20% to 5% . Haddo House NTS is pleased to help make days out more affordable for families this summer.
