About This Event

A Visible Mending Day Class will be held at Ruthrieston Community Centre on 20 October 2026. Participants will learn basic patching and sashiko stitching techniques to extend the life of their garments. The class aims to teach visible mending skills. Tickets are priced at £33.22.

Learn how to extend the life of your favourite garments with some basic patching and sashiko stitching techniques for visible mending

In this beginner friendly class you will learn how to use decorative patching and sashiko stitching to mend your favourite clothes. Bring your own garment in need of some TLC (a pair of jeans, a light canvas jacket, a denim skirt, a shirt or a blouse) - just make sure that it's made of a woven fabric! I'll provide all necessary materials (fabric scraps for patching, specialist sashiko threads, needles, scissors, pens and pencils for marking), as well as some light refreshments.
