Join us for our BigNightOut! An adventure filled evening, running by torchlight, on the trails and travellers ways that surround the historic city of Winchester in Hampshire.

Description

BigNightOut is back after an incredibly successful event last year! On a fully signed course, using our bespoke fluorescent directional markers, runners leave Winchester Athletics Track under cover of darkness. With headtorches lighting the way, you'll head out of the City of Winchester and onto the South Downs Way. Following the SDW, the 22Km runners will climb steadily to Cheesefoot Head, where panoramic views of the night sky will really add to the sense of adventure. Running over Fawley down towards Morestead, runners will complete a circular loop before coming back down Cheesefoot Head and heading out onto the MOD land at Deacons Hill. Here you'll meet the 11km runners as you both join the Pilgrims Trail and make your way back towards Winchester and St Catherines Hill. Now it's a run along the Itchen Way as you follow the river back to the track and the finish line.

Registration

Collect Race Bibs from Registration Tent at event site

Registration opens at 16:30 and will close at 17:15 for both distances

Mandatory Kit

All runners will be required to have a headtorch or chest torch. We advise also bringing a back up if possible

All runners will be required to carry at least 500ml of fluid with them. Most will have hydration vests but handheld soft flasks will be permitted.

As weather is changeable, especially in winter, runners are advised to also wear (and carry) appropriate clothing for the conditions.

We also strongly advise runners to download the GPX file of the route onto a wearable watch or mobile device. Although this is a marked course event, arrows can be tampered with, so a good understanding of the route is advisable.
