About the Series

Inspired by Maya Angelou's celebrated poem Phenomenal Woman, Theresa McDermott founded the series in 2018 to celebrate women who have made an outstanding contribution in their chosen fields. Each event offers an intimate opportunity to hear first-hand from exceptional women, exploring not only their achievements but also the experiences, resilience and determination behind their success.

Phenomenal Women Returns This September

We're delighted to welcome Eve Salomon CBE as the next guest in our Phenomenal Women series.

Eve has enjoyed an extraordinary career spanning international media law, journalism, regulation and the arts. From helping to protect press freedom in Hungary and supporting the creation of public service broadcasting in Ukraine, to advising the Leveson Inquiry following the UK's phone hacking scandal, she has worked at the centre of some of the most significant media issues of our time.

Awarded a CBE in 2023 for services to arts and heritage, Eve also served for eight years as Chair of the Horniman Museum, leading the organisation through a period of national recognition and change.

Since moving to Bath in 2022, Eve has become Chair of Bath Preservation Trust, helping to safeguard the city's unique heritage while supporting its communities and museums.

During the evening, Eve will share the story of her remarkable career, reflecting on the defining moments, challenges and opportunities that have shaped her journey. She will explore what it means to lead through complex and often high-profile situations, while maintaining perspective, purpose and a sense of humour.

The evening will begin with a short introduction by Theresa McDermott, founder of the Phenomenal Women series, before Eve takes to the floor. Following her talk, Theresa will host a Q&A, giving guests the opportunity to put their own questions to Eve.
