A beginner's course to learn how to scythe and care for your equipment with scything expert Kai Lange. Scythes provided or bring your own.

Protect Earth is an environment charity. We bought some disused land on the banks of the River Avon earlier this year to create a nature reserve.

We are keen to promote traditional skills such as scything and offer this course for just £30, with proceeds used towards the improvements at our nature reserve. This course is suitable for beginners or as a refresher. Learn how to scythe, and how to adjust and sharpen your scythe. Scythes are provided but you are welcome to bring your own if it is in good condition..

There is parking on site. Drive or cycle through the farmyard of Sheephouse Farm, Warleigh Lane, Bath, BA1 8EE and through the gate into Warleigh Nature Reserve where there will be someone to meet you.
