About This Event

The Jane Austen Festival will officially commence on Saturday 12 September 2026 with the Grand Regency Costume Promenade, a highlight of the programme that sees participants processing through central Bath. Approximately 2,000 attendees, all dressed in full Regency attire, will assemble on the lawn of the Royal Crescent before setting off at 11am. The procession will be led by a town crier and drummers, with red-coated soldiers and naval officers among the marchers. The route, which takes around 90 minutes, will conclude in Parade Gardens, adjacent to Bath Abbey. All participants are required to be in Regency costume. This is a Regency costume mandatory event. If you arrive without a suitable Regency outfit, you may be asked to leave the promenade.

Please note that wristbands for this year's Promenade are now sold out, however you are welcome to view the spectacle from locations around the city. Recommended viewpoints include below the Royal Crescent lawn, The Circus, Milsom Street, and Orange Grove grass island.
