An evening of film, conversation and community exploring how sport can help us honour those we have lost.
Join us at Pigment Space in Belfast on Friday 4 September 2026 for a special screening of From the Sideline, a 10-minute documentary filmed and directed by Keelan Sexton.
The documentary tells the story behind a charity All-Star basketball game created by two brothers in memory of David Durkan in 2024, and held most recently in honour of their late mother, Janet McGaharan, in 2025.
Capturing the spirit of the game both on and off the court, the film explores how Janet’s legacy continues through Tony and Paddy McGaharan's commitment to serving their community, bringing people together and using basketball as a force for good.
Across the two All-Star events, over £10,000 has been raised for charities supporting children and young people.
Following the screening, filmmaker Keelan Sexton will share more about his approach to capturing this deeply personal story.
We will then be joined by Kathryn B Wilson, a television and radio presenter, who will lead a panel conversation featuring members of the basketball community. Together, they will share their own experiences of love and loss, and reflect on how they continue to honour the people they have lost through sport, community and life beyond the court.
The evening will finish with a short audience Q&A, followed by refreshments and an opportunity to connect.
