This Ranger Walk takes place on 2 October 2026 at Divis and the Black Mountain as part of NI Environment Week. Organised under the DIvis: A View to a Future project, the event allows attendees to visit over 250 newly constructed peat dams with guidance from Rangers. Participants will learn about the scale of conservation work carried out across the area while enjoying a guided tour through Divis and the Black Mountain. The walk is free to attend for those joining the various Rangers leading the session.
As part of the DIvis: A View to a Future project, over 250 peat damns have been added across Divis and Black Mountain. Join one of our Rangers for a guided walk to see the scale of the work and learn about the impact the peat restoration is already having on the habitats and the future of our environment.
The walk will take place across rocky paths and across the grassland so we highly recommend good waterproof footwear and weather appropriate clothing.
This event is free, booking isn't required but we recommend emailing us to let us know you're attending. in case we need to cancel due to poor weather.
The walk will start in the Lower Car Park. Please note the café is currently closed due to the ongoing construction work, but toilet facilities are available.
