An unforgettable day trip to the fabulous Carlingford and the Cooley Mountains — spectacular mountain views, great food, sauna heat and sea-dip magic.

On Sat Sept 19, 2026, Experience the Cooley Mountains from a whole new perspective as we tackle the spectacular Slieve Foye Loop in a clockwise direction this time round.

Starting in the colourful medieval village of Carlingford, we’ll climb steadily to the summit of Slieve Foye, where breathtaking panoramic views stretch across Carlingford Lough, the Mourne Mountains and, on a clear day, as far as the Isle of Man. After soaking up the scenery from County Louth’s highest peak, we’ll descend via the legendary Táin Way, following ancient trails back towards Carlingford.

This is a rewarding mountain adventure packed with rugged landscapes, rich history and some of the finest coastal views Ireland has to offer.

As always, we’ll be taking this at our usual relaxed pace — no rushing, no chasing times — just soaking it all in, enjoying the craic, and letting the Mournes work their magic. 🌄🥾

Terrain: Mix of tarmac, forestry roads, grassy tracks, rocky sections, open mountain and boggy ground.

Lunch stop at Ruby Ellen’s 🍽️

A much-loved Carlingford spot serving up seriously good food, relaxed vibes and plenty of character — the perfect place to refuel after the hike. Lunch is optional and not included (but highly recommended 😉).Please note : Cash payment only for lunch - both Euro & Stirling accepted.

After lunch, we’ll head over to the Saunas With Soul for a proper recharge — time to slow it all down, sink into the heat, relax tired legs, and finish with a revitalising sea and/or barrel dip. The ultimate reward after a great day on the mountain.

Of course, there are lots of people that join our events on their own, it won’t be long until you are making new mountain mates!

🥾 Waterproof walking boots

👖 Walking trousers or leggings (no jeans/cotton)

🧥 Insulating layers such as fleece or wool and a jacket

Are you ready for an adventure? You will get a guided hike with qualified and experienced mountain leaders who are outdoor first aid trained and will be carrying first aid and emergency equipment for your safety.

🐾 NO DOGS : Whilst we are a dog friendly group, unfortunately due to land owner resrictions there will be no dogs on this hike.

All of our hikes take time, care, and preparation to bring together — from planning routes to sourcing what’s needed to make the experience possible. When you book a place, we also plan the number of guides to participants around those bookings. To keep things fair and sustainable for everyone, please take note of our cancellation policy:

CANCELLATION POLICY:

IF WE CANCEL OR POSTPONE an event for any reason, you will have the option of:

1. Completing your activity on a rescheduled date

2. Receive a full refund.

IF YOU CANCEL:

If you notify us with over 14 days notice of the event start date credit will be given that you can use against other events. Within 14 days notice of an event there is no credit given and we do not offer exchanges/transfer of your ticket onto another event.

RESCHEDULED EVENT

If an event is rescheduled and you agree to the new date, your booking is transferred to the new event and this cancellation policy will apply to the rescheduled date.

*PLEASE NOTE: Due to the nature of the events we provide and the environments these take place in, hikes will not be cancelled simply because of bad weather. However they will be cancelled by us if bad weather deems the event dangerous or unsuitable In this instance we will get in touch to notify you.

Hikes are subject to minimum group numbers being reached. In the event that this does not happen, you will be notified and offered a full refund, or the opportunity to be transferred onto a different event Or a credit held.
