The workshop on 11 November 2026 at the Library of Birmingham will focus on using the Generic Learning Outcomes (GLOs) to enhance project planning and impact assessment. This training session is part of the Archives Revealed initiative.
Join us for an Archives Revealed training workshop to learn how to use the Generic Learning Outcomes (GLOs) to support your project.
This practical session will introduce the GLOs framework as a flexible tool for understanding the wider learning and engagement impact of archive projects, from changes in knowledge and skills to attitudes, behaviours, creativity and sensory engagement.
Participants will explore how to
plan activities with clear outcomes in mind,
gather meaningful qualitative evidence, and
map that evidence to the GLOs for use in evaluation reports, future funding applications and advocacy work.
The workshop will include examples from Birmingham-based Archives Revealed projects, alongside practical activities and shared resources to help participants apply the approach to their own work.
If you cannot attend this date, you can register to attend a re-delivery on 10 November, 11am - 4pm. Please only sign-up to one of the workshops.
Who should attend
This workshop will be of interest to current Archives Revealed grantees.
Additional information
Please note that we will be filming during the workshops to produce a series of short films about Archives Revealed and the use of Generic Learning Outcomes. Filming may capture workshop activities, discussions and general participant engagement.
Attendees should be comfortable with the possibility of appearing in the background of filmed footage.
We will also invite a small number of participants to share brief reflections on camera about their experience of the workshop. This could include thoughts on what they have learned, how they might apply the approaches discussed in their own work, and how the training may support future evaluation and impact reporting.
Participation in these on-camera interviews is entirely voluntary, and there is no need to prepare anything in advance
Trainer
The workshop will be led by Jenni Waugh, Cultural Engagement Consultant, who has been supporting GEM – The Group for Education in Museums to refresh and relaunch the GLO Framework. Jenni has been developing and evaluating projects with the GLOs since they were launched in 2003, adapting them for use with a wide range of organisations and audiences.
