About This Event

Join us for a gentle late summer forage walk through Sunnyhurst Woods . We’ll explore what is growing

Join us for a gentle Late Summer Forage Walk through Sunnyhurst Woods, Darwen, with Pete Compo from Pendle Plant Craft.

This event is part of Thriving with the Seasons, our Heritage funded project reconnecting people with seasonal living, local plant wisdom, food, remedies, stories and the old skills that would once have been passed down through families and communities.

Late summer is a lovely time to notice the shift in the season. The woods begin to show us berries, seeds, late flowers, leaves and plants that have traditionally been used in different ways. Pete will guide us safely through the woodland, helping us identify what is growing, how plants have been used historically, and how to forage respectfully.

These walks are not about knowing everything. They are about getting curious.

You can walk through a park or woodland and think there is not much there, then someone like Pete starts pointing things out and suddenly you realise you have probably walked past food, medicine and old plant wisdom hundreds of times without even knowing.

No previous knowledge is needed. This is a relaxed, friendly community event suitable for all ages.
