On the first Wednesday of each month, join our guided walk leaders for a community walk. This September, spend some time in nature and explore the Smithills Estate. Enjoy spectacular views over Bolton and Greater Manchester while chatting with others in the community.

How to get to the Event:
Bus - Catch the 125 from Bolton and get off at the Bob Smithy's Inn. Then take a 0.8 mile, 15 minute walk to Walker Fold car park.
Alternativley catch the 526 to Barrow Bridge bus terminus and take a 20 minute walk along Barrow Bridge Road, up the 63 steps to Walker Fold car park.

This walk is approx. 2 hours, ~5km and is partly on footpaths and partly on uneven ground. It’s moderate with some slightly challenging parts. This walk is not suitable for anyone with mobility issues.
The route will contain footpaths mingled with restricted byways, providing a mix of both surfaced and unsurfaced paths and wider, more formal-looking tracks.
We ask all attendees to bring water and come prepared for cold and potentially wet weather. This walk will be cancelled if there is severe weather, please check your emails on the day before the walk.
Attendees must be over 18.
Please wear appropriate footwear, such as sturdy walking or hiking shoes or boots.
Dogs on leads are welcome.
Bring any refreshments you may need, including water.
Please make the Woodland Trust team aware of any medical issues before the start of the walk, e.g. asthma, diabetes, etc
Walker Fold car park has 60 spaces and is free.
Limited spaces are available for our events, if you can no longer make it, we appreciate you letting us know
All attendees are welcome to a free drink from the Coffee Box Bolton at the end of the walk
