About This Event

The Golden Pause: Creative reflection for therapists and healers will take place on 11 October 2026 at Lyme and Wood Country Park in Bolton. This workshop is designed for therapists and wellbeing practitioners to engage in personal development and reflection in nature. Ticket prices range from £32.00 to £36.00.

A creative personal development day in nature this autumn for therapists and other wellbeing practitioners to reflect on your practice

Join outdoor therapists Cara Burke and Janine Keeble for a reflective day of personal development in nature.

With the theme of transition and reflection inspired by the natural world between the autumn equinox and the Celtic festival of Samhain, this is a morning to slow down and reconnect with deep values and intuitive knowledge. It will be a time to press pause on the busy-ness of everyday life and make space for creative reflection, reflect on what is coming to fruition and what we are ready to let go of.

Cara and Janine will invite you to join them in some gentle and creative practices connecting with the changing season at the country park site. Expect invitations to create with clay and natural materials and to engage in reflective mark making or writing.

Throughout the morning, there will be opportunities to share thoughts and experiences in community, although there is no pressure to do so.

Do I have to be a counsellor? No, this is open to anyone who works in the area of mental health, wellbeing, holistic therapies, to check in with where you are at in your practice.

Do I have to be working in/with nature? No, this is a day for you to connect with nature to help nurture your self and your practice but your practice itself need not be ‘eco’-anything.

What will I get from it?

Three hours of dedicated personal development focus. Cara and I could see a gap between therapists' personal reflective practice and all the CPD offerings around that are about specific presenting issues or different therapeutic approaches.

Instead, this is a space to turn inwards to reflect on your values and purpose and how they manifest in your practice. It's a chance to reconnect with why you do what you do and to lean into your values and foundations.

You get Cara and I guiding you in mindful and creative practices working in and with nature as a co-facilitator. These practices start with checking in with yourself through grounding and meditative walking and move on to creatively exploring your practice using natural materials and writing/ journaling/ sketching.

You also get the many benefits of doing this in community with others so that we can share our thoughts and experiences. If this resonates with you, you might find it a nourishing and helpful experience.

Practical info:

We’ll provide some snacks and hot drinks. There’s a kettle available. Let us know if you require gluten-free or dairy-free products.

A toilet is available.

Dress for the weather. An extra layer is a good idea as we’ll be moving slowly or sitting. Paths are grassed and may be wet/muddy. If the weather is particularly wet, we do have an indoor space we can use but we intend to be outdoors in all but the most extreme conditions.

There’s a car park at the country park. We’ll send out detailed info to attendees in the week before the event.
