An interactive energy advice workshop runs at Pinehurst Community Church on 20 November 2026. The session provides tools for spotting people at risk of fuel poverty and signposting them to necessary help.
Energy prices are shooting up - by January fuel will cost almost £10 per week more! How will the people you help cope?
FREE Energy advice session for people working, volunteering or helping in their community.
In January, energy prices are predicted to rise by around £9 per week over April's levels. This will mean a hard, cold winter for many. Some will be unable to heat their homes adequately; they will be in fuel poverty.
This interactive workshop will look at how you can spot people at risk of fuel poverty and how you can help. This session and the accompanying information pack will give you the tools you need to signpost them to the help they need.
The session includes:
What fuel poverty is and how it affects people
How to have hard conversations with people
Giving basic energy advice
Information and signposting to get them help
The trainer will take you through exercises on how to talk to someone about fuel poverty, giving advice & information and building on your existing skills.
The training is free to attend for anyone working or volunteering in a frontline role with service users, especially the most vulnerable. It's also suitable for people who help others in a community setting. Everyone will receive a pack of information after the presentation that will enable them to offer information and signpost people to the help they need.
Dorset Community Action and Citizens Advice East Dorset & Purbeck are joining together to help tackle the problem of fuel poverty with the Energy Outreach Project.
Your trainer is: Caro Hart, Dorset Community Action. Caro in an experienced trainer and consultant and has worked on this project for two years. If you have any questions, please email Caro at caro.hart@dorsetcommunityaction.org.uk.
