A craft class for children aged 4 and up

Somewhere in the trees at Upton, the fairies have been busy.

They have been collecting; feathers, shells, ribbons, tiny bells, beads that catch the light and tiny gems... They left it all out for us, because a fairy will always tell you the same thing: the wind is trying to speak, and it needs something to sing through.

So that is what we make together.

We begin with a small journey into the fairy realm via our inner worlds (imaginations), where every child meets the one who will be helping them today; some arrive quickly, some like to be coaxed. Then we settle down to build. Threading, tying, choosing, arranging. Every wind chime comes out completely different, because every child is.

Before anyone goes home, we sprinkle a little fairy dust over the finished piece and take it outside to hear its very first song.

Hang it by a bedroom window, in the garden, near the back door. Every time the wind moves through it, that is a hello.

The details

Ages 4 and up; younger siblings are welcome to sit alongside with a grown up.

Around one hour.

£8.50 per child.

All materials, tools, fairy dust and stories provided; you bring the child and their imagination.

Each child takes their wind chime home the same day.

Grown ups are welcome to stay, join in, or sit in our garden and ejoy a coffee; whichever kind of hour you need. We also have a mud kitchen and sandpit for the tiny siblings who prefer to run around outdoors whilst you enjoy your coffee!

Places are limited, because faeries do not care for crowds.
