This workshop for children under 10 takes place at the Hengistbury Head Visitor Centre on 19 August 2026. Participants will take part in a mock burial dig to learn about archaeology. Each session lasts approximately 45 minutes and costs £7.00.
Unearth ancient secrets and become a history detective at our mock burial dig. Sessions last approx 45 mins. Suitable for children aged 5-10
Join us for a unique educational experience, guided by volunteers from our Iron Age Village, as we delve into the fascinating world of Archaeology. In this immersive workshop, participants will engage in the meticulous excavation of pots, flints, and bones, employing essential techniques to identify various artefacts and piece together the enigmatic story of the people that lived here 2,000 years ago.
The £7 tickets are for a family, this being 2 Adults and 2-3 Children, and is for one 1x1m excavation plot per group. If you require more than one plot please purchase additional tickets. Suitable for children aged 5 - 10
All materials and tools will be provided. The activity will take place in outside sandboxes, so please wear suitable clothing and footwear, and remember to bring sunscreen, water and hats.
