A celebration event of the Poverty Truth Commission for Bournemouth Christchurch and Poole. Tackling Poverty Together.

A Poverty Truth Commission takes an innovative approach to tackling the root causes of poverty by turning the usual power balance on its head. Our belief is that lasting and systemic change will only be possible when people with direct experience of poverty (Community Commissioners) are helping to lead that change.

The second Commission for BCP was launched in September 2025 when a group of fifteen Community Commissioners were joined by a similar number of Civic and Business Commissioners.

Come and join us to find out what has developed and is now emerging from the Poverty Truth Commission to help improve the lives of people struggling against poverty in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.

The Commissioners have been focussing on three key themes that have originated from the lived experience of the Community Commissioners:

Person-Centred Systems; Humanising Migration; and Joined-Up Support & Services

Together they’ve been daring to trust and to dream, unlocking their power and passion together, to open up possibilities for lasting change.

Citygate is located opposite the entrance to Bournemouth train, coach and bus station.

There is no parking onsite and we ask where possible you travel sustainably by walking, cycling, Beryl bike/scooter, bus, train or car-share.

Nearby public parking can be found at Bournemouth Train Station or Cotlands Road Car Park. Three hours free parking is available at the ASDA store across the road for ASDA shoppers only.
