scroll saw woodwork class making your own fairytale birdbox or bird table!

In this introductory three hour carpentry course, you’ll learn how to build a unique fairytale birdbox / birdtable using hand tools (tennon saw, bench hook, drill, coping saw) and a scroll saw!

A scroll saw is like a big sewing machine type saw - that is great for cutting out complicated freehand shapes - so i would like to encourage you to think outside the box for designs and shapes that you can elaborate on a basic box shape with.

Your bird table / box can either be open - as a bird feeder - or a nesting box for either birds or bats, and can be wall mounted (with mirror plates) - or on a post to go in your garden!

I will help you understand the scroll saw - and show you the endless possibilities and be glad to help you with further projects and tailor further classes to whatever you would like to do next!

We will be using pieces of scrap and salvaged wood - this should give you some ideas on how to be resourcefull, sustainable and make the most of every piece of wood.

You will go home with something unique that will last years to come and bring life and new residents to your garden!

I will cover all the essential techniques for safely cutting using hand tools, and safely using the scroll saw, gueing and nailing - and designing something very special within just a few hours!
