The third instalment of a four-part creative writing series for adults will convene on September 19, 2026, at 10:00 AM, at the Kingcombe Visitor Centre in Bournemouth. This workshop, themed "Writing the Seasons: Autumn," invites participants to explore and capture the essence of autumn through nature's transitions at Kingcombe Meadows reserve. Led by a diverse team of instructors, this engaging session promises to be both inspirational and enlightening. The event carries a cost of £55.00 per person, providing adults with an enriching opportunity to delve into creative expression amidst the seasonal splendour.

A series of 4 linked creative writing workshops for adults drawing inspiration from the changing seasons and the beautiful Kingcombe National nature Reserve. Linked yet without obligation or need to attend all four. We’ll look at the way various writers have responded to the respective season and we’ll take our notebooks for a gentle amble around the trails, weather permitting and tailored to your ability (disabled access to pond, bird hide and centre). Short writing activities will generate starting points for poems, short stories and life-writing. No experience necessary.
Please bring your own writing materials of choice.
The Tutor
Dr Kevan Manwaring is the Programme Leader on the MA Creative Writing at Arts University Bournemouth. He is the author of Writing Ecofiction (Palgrave Macmillan) and The Nature of Fantasy (Routledge), and editor of Heavy Weather (The British Library). A contributor to Free Thinking on BBC Radio 3, he was an Academic Consultant for BBC 4’s The Secret Life of Books. He is a member of the Climate Fiction Writers League.
Dorset Wildlife Trust partner cafe The Kitchen at Kingcombe will be open and offers a delicious range of food and drinks. Please see their Facebook page for latest opening times and seasonal menu.
All money raised helps to support the vital conservation work of Dorset Wildlife Trust, protecting wildlife now and for future generations to come.
Times: Arrive from 9.45am for a 10am start. Course will finish 4pm.
What to bring: As you will be outside for part of your day; please bring suitable clothing, wet weather jackets, good walking shoes and a backpack to carry personal belongings.

DWT reserves the right to cancel the course at any time. In the event of DWT cancelling an event, a full refund will be issued.
DWT reserves the right to reschedule events in the event of unfavourable conditions and offer alternative dates or issue a full refund.
Courses will only take place if the minimum number is achieved. If the minimum number is not achieved, an alternative date will be offered, or a full refund will be issued.
Cancelling your booking
Cancellations are accepted at the discretion of Dorset Wildlife Trust and a reasonable cancellation cause should be provided by the participant.
You may request a cancellation up to 14 days before the date of the course or workshop. You may be charged an administration fee.
