Join Sheffield based artist Jessica Heywood, in this contemporary blackwork stitching workshop, at the Community Space at Old Calverley Hall.
Over a 3 hour period we will look at Tudor examples of blackwork and discuss its origins, before starting our own responses. There will be a variety of common patterns drawn out, and attendees will be supported in creating their own designs on gridded paper should they wish.
Blackwork stitching is beginner friendly, and this workshop is suitable for all levels.
All attendees will be given an embroidery hoop with a pre drawn image (done in water soluble pen), from which to work. For an extra £7, Jess will stitch your outline for you, so you focus straight away on adding blackwork patterns.
Choose from one of the attached image suggestions, or message me to have a custom hoop drawn. Please note, outlines are purposefully simple to allow for detailed pattern work and individual design within the workshop.
