New Weaving Workshop for October 2026
Agnis Smallwood has designed a bespoke workshop for Sunny Bank Mills to celebrate Wool Month in October. You will create a scarf/snood using a colour and weave technique called log cabin using a contrasting light cream and dark brown yarn. She is passionate about weaving with wool, having lived in Yorkshire for most of her life and studied in Cumbria, wool has always been a part of her practice.
Using 100% breed specific British-grown wool you will have the opportunity to weave your own snood or scarf using a table loom. Agnis has sourced two beautiful yarns with the expert help of Vanessa at Hoop Knit.
This workshop has been carefully created so that it can be enjoyed by both those who have no weaving experience through to those who are familiar with a loom and would like extend their knowledge. The looms will have been set up with a warp and threaded beforehand and therefore ready to use meaning you can enjoy weaving straight away. There are 4 levels at which to access this workshop depending on any prior weaving experience and knowledge. There will be group demonstrations as well as plenty of one to one support available throughout the workshop.
You will go home not only with a beautifully hand woven snood or scarf you will have produced yourself, but also the weaving draft (instructions) should you wish to continue developing your weaving skills at home.
Tea, coffee & cake will be provided.
Course level: Beginner
Wool Month in October was launched by The Campaign for Wool in 2010. It began as wool week, however now it has grown into a month of celebrations promoting the benefits of wool and helping to support the whole wool industry.
