An annual mini music festival set in a pop-up venue, featuring local bands and vendors

The 6th annual Palace in the Backyard will be in a new location, Fishers Flower Farm--a hidden oasis that will be bursting with fresh blooms come September. Fishers Flower Farm is nestled in the heart of Fishers near 106th & Allisonville, just north of Indianapolis.

The Palace in the Backyard was initially created to provide an intimate setting for music-lovers to experience local band The Palace, winners of MOKB’s 2020 Battle of the Bands, winners of a 2023 Regional Emmy, and performers at the All IN, WonderRoad, and Indy Pride festivals. Now in its 6th year, the event has grown into a mini music festival with 5 other incredibly talented local bands, for a full evening of musical virtuosity.

This is an all-ages event and ALL are welcome. Local food and alcohol will be available for purchase. No outside food/drink allowed. Bring your own chairs/blankets.

Band Bios

THE PALACE

The Palace is uncontained soul from the lips of a rockstar on Broadway. Vocal runs and soaring guitar solos are the crown jewels of a modern blues band taken over by Queen reincarnate, including a front man whose presence transcends. The Palace’s loyal following routinely packs in the largest independent venues Indianapolis has to offer as their presence spreads in places like WonderRoad or All IN Festivals in 2022. You can listen to their debut album Rainbow Shades on Spotify (or whereever you get your music)

FREE JOEL

Wild, loose, and impossible to pin down—Free Joel feels most at home in a crowded room ready to move. The four-piece channels the raw swagger of the bands they grew up on, pairing restless guitar riffs with a relentless rhythm section. Rooted in blues-rock, Free Joel’s sound has since evolved into a fast, punk-edged force built for dancing. The result is a sweat-soaked shot of pure rock ‘n’ roll energy.

NICK DITTMEIER & THE SAWDUSTERS

Hailing from, and proudly remaining in, the river town of Jeffersonville, Indiana, singer-songwriter and guitar virtuoso Nick Dittmeier has spent more than a decade chronicling Midwestern lives through a sharp, evolving blend of roots music. Backed by the Sawdusters, the trio has built its reputation through relentless touring across the U.S. and Europe and a steady run of records grounded in narrative songwriting and grit.

A BRIGHT ABYSS

Going deeper doesn’t always mean getting darker-A Bright Abyss is about finding creativity, healing, and wholeness in the depths. With lush harmonies, ethereal strings, and evocative lyrics drawing on the symbolism of psychoanalysis, fairytales, and spirituality—this duo of mental health therapists use song and story to uncover the potential for profound growth nestled in the unconscious.
