Create spooky gargoyles and clay monsters inspired by Brighton’s historic churches in this fun, hands-on Halloween pottery workshop
Halloween Pottery Workshop: Gargoyles & Creative Monsters! 👻
Get ready for a spooktacular pottery adventure! Inspired by the mysterious gargoyles perched high on St Paul’s Church and the Chapel Royal in Brighton, children will dive into a world of mythical beasts, strange faces and fantastical creatures.
From mischievous monsters and grumpy gargoyles to wild imaginary beasts, young creatives will dream up and sculpt their very own spooky character using clay. With plenty of room for imagination, they’ll experiment with shapes, expressions, horns, teeth and all sorts of wonderfully weird details to bring their creatures to life.
Whether your monster is fearsome, funny or a little bit friendly, anything goes in this Halloween-inspired creative workshop!
Perfect for curious young makers who love getting hands-on, exploring their imagination and creating something wonderfully monstrous.
Suitable for Ages 5+
Children will be guided through simple hand-building pottery techniques, encouraged to experiment, express themselves and create their own unique ceramic piece to take home. Please bring a box or carrying container to take away your beasts!
This workshop is for children only. All our artists are DBS cleared, and the gallery allocates a child-only space for children's workshops.
What’s Included
• Guided pottery session led by a professional ceramic artist
• All clay, tools and materials
• Aprons and protective equipment
• Calm, creative studio setting in the heart of the beautiful Lanes
This creative workshop includes 1 & a quarter hours of handbuilding with clay. Children of all ages are welcome. All materials are provided; just remember to bring along an old t-shirt for a mess-free experience!
Our Approach
Sessions are led by our resident artists, all safeguarding trained and experienced in wellbeing-led creative practice, creating a calm, supportive and inspiring environment where children can feel safe, confident and creatively free.
All workshop staff are enhanced DBS checked, and the gallery follows full safeguarding and health & safety policies to ensure your child’s wellbeing.
A note for parents and carers
Our workshops are all about giving children the freedom to explore their creativity, experiment and bring their own ideas to life.
Parents and carers are encouraged to stay and enjoy the experience alongside their child, particularly if they need a little reassurance. We ask that adults take a supportive back seat, allowing children to make their own creative choices, work at their own pace and discover things for themselves.
There’s no right or wrong way to create here! Our role is to encourage children’s imaginations and help them develop confidence in their own ideas, rather than making the artwork for them.
Thank you for helping us create a relaxed, welcoming space where young creatives can flourish.
The session costs just £27 per child, providing affordable access to creativity and a chance for your child to develop confidence, imagination, and hands-on artistic skills.
This workshop is the perfect way for children to immerse themselves in clay, enjoy the process of making, and create with guidance in a friendly, professional environment.
