EVENT DESCRIPTION

Enjoy a relaxed, untutored morning of drawing inside the much‑loved Steyning Museum in West Sussex. This gentle sketching event is part of The Big Draw (https://www.thebigdraw.org/), the world’s largest celebration of drawing, bringing people together through the power of creativity.

Explore and sketch a rich mix of objects from the museum’s collection - fossils, skeletons, pottery, local history artefacts and items that tell the story of Steyning and its surroundings.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Untutored drawing session suitable for adults, all levels

Bring your own sketchbook and pencils

Indoor, calm and welcoming environment

Draw what you see and what inspires you, without judgement. Participants can also choose to engage with creativity themes set by The Big Draw 2026 to 'Make a Mark (https://www.thebigdraw.org/about-us/the-big-draw-festival)'.

Places are free, but advance booking is essential.*

* IMPORTANT: If you reserve a ticket and later find you can’t attend, please cancel your booking so someone else can take the space - capacity is limited and demand is high, and people have taken time to organise the event.

Steyning Museum (https://steyningmuseum.org.uk/wp/) and gift shop is run by dedicated volunteers. While the event is free, donations to support the museum’s work are warmly appreciated.

GETTING THERE

Easy access by road

Nearby parking available Sundays includes spaces outside the Museum, library and grammar school car parks. Parking at Steyning Centre car park is free on Sundays.

Bus route 2 between Brighton & Steyning (Brighton & Hove buses confirm 2 buses will be running hourly on Sunday 4th October to and from Steyning - new winter timetable will soon be published at their site online (https://www.buses.co.uk/services/BH/2))

WHO CAN JOIN

Adults 16+ only - suitable for all skill levels. Note:

No accompanying dogs or children for this event.
