A Love drenched Autumn Dance Party celebrating the 90’s Acid Jazz musical movement and beyond at Brighton's fabulous Alphabet venue.

Following on from our epic Spirit of Acid Jazz club nights we’re delighted to present you with the next instalment at Brighton’s fabulous Alphabet Venue on Saturday November 7th! Rooted in the past but looking to the future standby for a Dance party taking us on a musical journey back to the heady days of the early 90’’s as well as reflecting the scenes best new flavours. Expect an uplifting mix of Funk, Soul and Hip Hop with Jazz Disco and Afro/Latin elements with 2 of the genres original DJ’s. Originating in UK clubland in the late 80’s and combining elements of the Rare Groove and Jazz Dance scenes the Acid Jazz movement blended Jazz chops with Funk grooves, Hip Hop Rhythms, and Soul swagger taking the sound all over the globe.A myriad of live acts emerged including Jamiroquai , The Brand New Heavies, Galliano, Ronny Jordan, Digable Planets, MC Solaar,, Young Disciples and many more. Brighton was at the forefront of the Acid Jazz scene at the time with Russ Dewbury’s "Jazz Bop" live event showcasing many of these artists to packed out crowds 2000 strong! His Brighton "Jazz Rooms" club nights rocked the sound at the weekends. Come and join us on Saturday November 7th as Russ teams up with bona fide legend of the scene DJ Snowboy!! Snowboy is the UK’s number one Latin Percussionist and Band Leader alongside a DJ career stretching back to the late 70’s.His long running and legendary London club residencies "The Hi Hat" and "Deep Funk" achieved global status and his DJ sets are pure dance floor fire. Snowboy has been involved in the Acid Jazz scene from the very beginning releasing early 12 inches for the Acid Jazz label. He played percussion on the "Freedom Principle" a ground breaking compilation from the time as well as percussion stints with heavyweights James Taylor Quartet, Incognito and Corduroy.I n 2009 he had a book published on the history of the UK Jazz Dance scene called “From Jazz Funk And Fusion To Acid Jazz”. An essential read. It has been many years since he DJ’d in Brighton and we are delighted to have him on board for this one! Jazz Rooms All star Live Percussionists Tim “Bongos”Mercer and Dal Robertson complete this stellar line up. Come to Dance!
