Join us for a guided walk exploring the unique habitat and wildlife on the Somerset Levels.
Guided by a conservation ranger with over 30 years experience of watching wildlife in the area. We'll visit some of the current hot-spots to maximise potential sightings. Birds, otters, grass snakes, dragonflies and Butterflies all thrive here.
We'll meet and finish at the Avalon Centre where there are toilets and a cafe for refreshments. There will be a very short onward journey to our start point which we will ideally carshare for.
September can be a quieter time with birdsong now finished but it's a month of unpredictability.
Many birds will have started their migration and the levels are a popular stop-off and refuel location.
Once the reedbeds are cut the steadily increasing numbers of wildfowl and waders will become noticeable.
We'll look for ever-presents including marsh harriers, young bitterns and egrets and keep an eye out for rare jewells such as bearded reedlings, young cuckoos and the majestic ospreys that stop by each year.
Plenty of time to learn ID tips, chat and just stop and admire our surroundings
