About This Event

Border Memories: Screening and Discussion will take place on 9 October 2026 at the Arts Complex in Bristol. The programme includes a screening of film regarding Chilean-Canadian border memories followed by a discussion with special guests. Entry is Free.

Generously funded by the Political Studies Association (PSA)

Through an interdisciplinary collaboration between the PSA's Political Theory Specialist Group, Migration Mobilities Bristol & the University of Bristol’s Memory Research Group, this event will host Professor Victoria Hattam (The New School for Social Research, New York City), and early career filmmaker and journalist Alex Leenders (Concordia University, Montreal) as well as Professor Brad Evans (University of Bath) as discussants, The exciting program will include an exclusive screening of Alex Leenders' short documentary film about Nelson, an undocumented mosaic and tattoo artist whose mosaics are scattered across Montréal’s borderscape. The screening will be followed by an informal discussion on the intersection of political theory, memory-making and (b)ordering, as well as drinks in the lobby or Balloon Bar.
