Bristol Museum & Art Gallery will present 'Bristol: A Bloody History', a guided tour exploring the darker aspects of Bristol's past. Participants will learn about historical events involving murder, riots, and other forms of violence in the city. The tour costs £12 and includes a set of written notes sent to attendees after the event.
A Walk in the Past is a friendly group where regulars and newcomers are always welcome. Our aim is to combine a good walk with pleasant company in historic landscapes. Let’s go a wandering in the streets and alleys of Old Bristol in search of Murder and Mayhem, Rioting and Fighting, Poisoning and Plundering, Plaque and Pestilence. Bristol has got it all! We will hear of religious and political killings and murders of jealously and rage. We will plot the course of riots and find the weaknesses of wartime. We will seek out the places where, in days gone by, good folk like us feared to tread. Our tour will reveal the Story of Bristol through the macabre and mysterious. Wickedness both accidental and intentional will be sought out. As is our custom a full set of written notes will be emailed out after our tour to help you hold on to what you have picked up from our exploration of the unsavoury side of Bristol life.
