Workshop participants will train as volunteers for Bristol Needs Budget on 17 September 2026 at UWE Bristol's International College to support a campaign against austerity.
Work with local councillors and trade unions to be part of an exciting new campaign against austerity!
Local services have been decimated and the most vulnerable get left behind. But in Bristol, we do not take austerity lying down.
Join an exciting new project where trade unions and the local Green Party are teaming up to talk to ordinary people and write a "Needs Budget".
This is a version of the council budget where we actually have enough money to achieve what ordinary Bristolians say is needed!
The results will then be used not only to shape the next council budget, but as a new campaigning tool to lobby central government for enough money to make it possible.
But how will we gather this vital information? That's where you come in!
In November and December, we will be holding three workshops across the city, in three of its most deprived areas. We need to get as many local people to attend as possible, so we will be doing street stalls in the weeks leading up to it to spread the word (and gather ideas from people on the street!)
But do to that, we need help! We are a very small team of volunteers from the Bristol TUC and the Bristol Green Party, so we need extra hands on the day to help run the workshops and talk to people on the street!
Full training will be provided (plus pizza!)
Come along on Thurs 17th Sept to hear more about it and get any training you need (plus pizza!)
No commitment required at this stage, just come to find out more!
If you need a lift to the training, or can offer a lift, please email cllr.shona.jemphrey@bristol.gov.uk
We look forward to seeing you there!
