'Join Julian Evans, author of the acclaimed memoir ***Undefeatable: Odesa in Love and War*,** for a deeply personal and compelling account of Ukraine’s struggle for survival. After falling in love with Odesa in the 1990s, Julian married a Ukrainian artist there and made the city part of his family’s life. Following Russia’s seizure of Crimea and the Donbas, he travelled to the frontline to witness events firsthand, returning to live in Odesa during the full-scale invasion under bombardment and blackouts. ***Undefeatable*** tells the story of a nation that refused to surrender. It offers a rare insider’s perspective on Ukraine’s remarkable transformation, its resilience in the face of aggression and what its future could mean for Europe.' - Foccal summary Photo credit: Yevhen Titarenko. **Please buy your own ticket (£14, or £12 for supported ticket (for anyone who would find it difficult to pay the full price)) via:** [https://www.tickettailor.com/events/foccal/2426101](https://www.tickettailor.com/events/foccal/2426101) Doors open at 4.00 pm, and the talk starts at 4.30 pm. **For other Clifton LitFest events (Fri 13th- Sun 15th Nov) visit: [https://foccal.com/litfest](https://foccal.com/litfest)**
