The Engineers House Conference in Bristol hosts "Relevant Today. Relevant Tomorrow?" on 17 September 2026 to explore the impact of artificial intelligence and automation on professional employability. Tickets range from £20 to £120, with early-bird pricing available for the first fifty attendees before standard rates apply. The programme offers networking opportunities for professionals seeking strategies to maintain visibility and value in a rapidly evolving market.
Bookings are open! Be quick—the first 50 tickets are discounted to just £40, and once they’re gone, they’re gone!
The world is changing, and faster all the time. Like it or not, AI, automation and shifting business needs are reshaping business and the finance function. That's going to affect us all and, ironically, it may be the more technically competent who are most at risk.
No conference can realistically promise to keep you employable and relevant. But we can give you the knowledge and insight to maximise your chances of success. Part of that is acting now, while things are going well. As they say, the best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago. The second best time is today.
We have designed the day around what mid-career finance professionals told us they needed, with speakers chosen because they can meet that need. It is built to give you an edge.
What the day covers
A full day working through the questions that matter to you:
Where is the profession really heading and what will finance be expected to do in five, ten, fifteen years?
What does "good" look like now?
Which skills are becoming essential and how do I start building them?
Why do capable people get overlooked and how do I make sure I'm not one of them?
How does hiring actually work now, whether I'm looking to move or trying to keep good people or recruit them?
What can AI actually do for me now and how will it reshape finance over the next few years?
And then: what's my plan - what do I do differently on Monday?
Making the case to your employer
If you need to justify the day, it's straightforward: you'll come back with a clearer view of how finance is changing, what "good" looks like, and what you and the business can do to stay ahead of it. It's a genuine CPD conversation, not a day out of the office.
