About This Event

The Brandon Heritage Trail: Historic Town and River Afternoon Walk is scheduled for Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 13:30 in Norwich. Departing from Brandon Market, this free guided walk follows a new route along the riverbank, allowing participants to explore the town's rich heritage. Volunteers will lead walkers through the history of Brandon, providing fascinating insights into its past. This event promises an engaging and educational experience for all who wish to uncover the stories that have shaped this historic community.

Discover Brandon's town and river on this guided history walk along the town's brand-new heritage trail.

From the town’s heyday as a market town, down the busy historic high street, to the bridge where riverside inns past and present served travellers through this important river and country crossing point, discover Brandon's rich history.

There is an optional loop to the railway station (to be decided on the day). Then a walk along the river to the staunch, telling the story of navigation in carrying key goods to and from the town. Finally, pass through the town's green spaces and the tree-lined Victoria Avenue that is the beautiful jewel in the crown of the town, before returning to Market Hill.

This guided walk will be led once in the morning and again in the afternoon - please ensure you are booking the right session.

This route has been specially created for Brandon's Heritage Open Days and will be guided by Imogen Radford and OSBrecks volunteers.
