The Best of the Books exhibition at Ickworth Estate in Cambridge brings a selection of the 8,000 books held in the property’s collection to public display. The event is part of the estate’s ongoing programme of showcasing its holdings.
At Ickworth we look after 8,000 books. Most of them are on bookshelves or tucked away in stores, with only a few opened every year for visitors to see. We’ll have a team of conservation staff and volunteers set-up at a station in the East Ante room with some of our very best and most significant books. They’ll be happy to chat to visitors about how we care for our books and to turn the pages of the books we’ll have on display. This is an informal, non-ticketed event but offers a unique chance to access our books.
