Welcome to this month's social walk! ☀️

This month we’re ticking off two more Ethels above the Hope Valley. The Ethels are the 95 Peak District hilltops named after Ethel Haythornthwaite, a Sheffield woman who helped make the Peak our first national park.

These two will be numbers 40 and 41 for us, so we’re getting close to halfway. Durham Edge (416m) sits on Abney Moor, and Burton Bole (417m) is on Shatton Moor. Both are quiet tops with big views over the limestone valleys and back towards the Edges.

It’s about 10km with 190m of climbing, so expect around three hours at a sociable pace. You don’t need to be a seasoned walker; just come with decent boots and a waterproof.

Everyone is welcome, so bring a friend.
