Muslim Hikers invites you to our annual Winter Hike of Mam Tor, one of the most iconic routes in the Peak District.

This year’s route will include the spectacular Winnats Pass, alongside the famous Great Ridge Walk. Starting and finishing in the historic town of Castleton, we’ll summit Mam Tor and enjoy one of the finest ridge walks in the country, taking in dramatic scenery and panoramic views.

This is a fantastic opportunity to meet likeminded hikers and adventurers from across the country, and to enjoy a scenic social trek as part of a professionally organised event with qualified mountain guides.

All are welcome regardless of religious background or ability. Whether you’re a seasoned hiker or a first-time walker, this is the perfect chance to experience one of the Peak District’s classic winter walks.

Friday prayers will be performed during the hike as per Muslim Hikers tradition.

THE WALK

Date: Thursday 25th December 2025

Meet Time: 08:30 | Start Time: 09:30

Meeting Point & Parking: Castleton Visitor Centre Car Park, Buxton Rd, Castleton S33 8WN

Route Distance: 6 miles (10km) circular

Elevation Gain: ~400m

Duration: Approx. 5 hours (finish ~3:00pm)

Difficulty: Easy – a fairly straightforward route suitable for most abilities (a good base fitness will help you enjoy the experience more).

KIT LIST

Hiking boots with ankle support recommended, rucksack, waterproof jacket & trousers, extra layers, water bottle (at least 1.5L), and packed lunch.
