A film screening and discussion for the People's Emergency Briefing takes place on 14 October 2026 at the Poynton Workmen's Club in Buxton. The event covers the impact of climate and nature crises on food, health, economic stability, and everyday life in the UK.
Come, learn and chat about what the climate and nature crises mean for food, health, economic stability, and everyday life in the UK .
Please join us for a screening of the People’s Emergency Briefing - an eye-opening film bringing together nine leading UK scientists and experts with the latest evidence and why it matters for things like extreme weather, food security, health and the cost of living
The film is based on the National Emergency Briefing in Westminster (featured by ITV, Channel 4 and The Times) with appearances from Chris Packham, Deborah Meaden, and a range of voices from across the UK. You can find out more at nebriefing.org/the-film. (https://www.nebriefing.org/the-film)
The bar will be open from 7:00pm. We want to start the film promptly at 7:30pm so please come early if you'd like to buy yourself a drink.
After the film there will be a short led discussion about what it means for our community and what we can do locally. The bar will then reopen to allow you to continue your conversations informally.
Seats are free but limited so please book in advance. There will be an opportunity at the end to make a small donation (suggested £2) to cover our costs.
If after booking you are unable to attend, we’d be very grateful if you could let us know so that we can re-allocate your ticket to someone else.
Bring a friend, neighbour or family member: everyone is welcome. We are setting ourselves a target of showing the film to 1,000 people in Poynton over the next six months.
The film has a formal 12A rating from the British Board of Film Classification. The Climate Psychology Alliance, however, advise that it is unsuitable for those under 16 years old (click here (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1tEncfsDWgvVOgbfAfmsWWvSE1cbACjbS/view) for their explanation).
