Two weeks of day tours with epic views, fluffy powder fresh tracks, and no ski infrastructure or other skiers in sight!

I’ve been very fortunate to spend at least six weeks in the Alps for quite a few recent winters. This was a conscious decision to reconnect with my big mountain passion after many years of maybe one or two weeks. In my early twenties i spent a few seasons in the Rockies, getting paid to be on skis. Recently I’ve been mostly skiing around the Aosta Valley Italy, based at Gressoney La Trinite, teaching yoga to cover my food and board. And every day searching out fresh powder lines in the back country, using the lift systems and skins.

Last winter I changed this up and after a warm up in Italy then did two weeks of Eagles Tours in France and Switzerland and then finally after many years of restraint got on a plane and flew to Eastern Turkey and back from Georgia for two weeks of guided very remote day touring with Andrew of Primal Scapes.

This talk will be about that trip and then a reflection on how to get fit for ski touring, both climbing and descending.
