We all experience stress at some point in our lives but what is it, how does it affect us in our daily lives and how can we learn to cope with stress in a healthier and more helpful way? In this talk, held at the Grapevine Centre, Jeanette will be exploring what stress is and finding out how people might respond to being stressed. She will examine what different people find stressful and investigate whether stress is good or bad. She will unpack the impact stress has on our mental, emotional, and physical states, providing insight into what happens in our bodies and minds when we feel stressed. She will make sense of how these various aspects are interconnected, and can keep people stuck in Vicious Cycles of Stress. She will also discuss how these patterns can lead to unhelpful and unhealthy coping mechanisms, which can worsen the stress cycle. Finally, Jeanette will share helpful strategies for healthier stress management, including going through some simple coping techniques we can practice together.
