Join us for what promises to be an unmissable evening with award-winning science writer and biographer Graham Farmelo discusses Hawking: His Life and Work- the first definitive biography of the world-renowned pioneer of black-hole theory to be authorised by the Stephen Hawking Estate. Drawing on his parents' previously unseen letters and diaries, and exclusive interviews with Stephen's family, friends and closest colleagues, Costa Award-winning biographer and physicist Graham Farmelo reveals the complex man behind the theories and global celebrity - and the resilience, fortitude and support that enabled him to defy his life-limiting diagnosis. Vividly told and rigorously researched, Hawking is the definitive portrait of an exceptional man and extraordinary intellect.

Graham Farmelo is an award-winning science writer and biographer. Formerly an academic and senior executive of the Science Museum from 1990-2003, he also works as speaker and consultant in science communication. Graham is often a guest on BBC Radio 4, has contributed to the New Scientist and Scientific Americanand written reviews in a wide range of publications, notablyThe Times, theNew York Times, theGuardian, Nature and Times Higher Education. He is a Fellow at Churchill College, Cambridge, and a regular visitor at the Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton.Sharon PeacockCBE is a Professor of Public Health and Microbiology in the Department of Medicine, University of Cambridge, and Master of Churchill College, Cambridge.
