Inspired by 'Polar Panoramas', join us to create your own blackout poetry
It's the National Year of Reading, and what better way to flex your creative muscles than trying out some blackout poetry!
Polar Panoramas artist John Kelly included pieces of text in his Arctic scroll and select phrases in his forensic boxes. In a similar theme, blackout poetry is a form of 'found poetry' using existing text to create a new poem.
We'll start with a 15-minute introduction to the method, accompanied by some inspriation images from our archival paintings and photographs. You'll then have 30 minutes to create as many poems as you wish. The final 15 minutes will be time to share and reflect on your creations.
All materials will be provided, including a range of texts to suit different reading levels.
This event is open to all ages, however it's best suited to visitors age 8+. Children under 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times.
