Eliza Carthy returns with Frenemies , a new album created with her long-standing band, The Restitution. Co-written and co-produced with Ben Seal, the record combines sharp humour, traditional folk and punk spirit as Carthy reflects on motherhood, betrayal, forgiveness and the state of the modern world. Tackling everything from complicated relationships to solidarity with the LGBTQIA+ community, Frenemies captures the wit, warmth and fire that have defined her career. More than 30 years on from her debut, Carthy remains one of English folk’s most distinctive and uncompromising voices. “The reigning queen of folk in England” The Arts Desk “The Restitution blew everyone away with an uncompromising and powerful set as fiery as Eliza’s flame red dress” Songlines | Cambridge Folk Festival “A flamboyant, impassioned, exhilarating work” MOJO “Visionary masterpiece… a career milestone” RnR Magazine This event is seated and standing.
