Engaging with Audiences: How to Maximise Your Impact is a workshop scheduled for 2 December 2026 at the Roger Needham Room, Wolfson College, University of Cambridge. Participants will learn about optimising the impact of their presentations. Entry is free.
Analyse the interactions between presenter and audience, and learn tools to optimise the impact that you can have when giving talks.
This event will start with Professor Lloyd Peck, a leading polar marine biologist and a Wolfson College Fellow, giving a presentation of some of his work. Participants will analyse this presentation for content, structure, and audiovisual ways of presenting information. They will also analyse the interaction between the presenter and the audience, paying particular attention to how engaging the audience can be as important, if not more, than the content itself.
We will then explore the ways in which impact is made with the audience and examine the range of tools available to achieve this. The second part of the masterclass will provide interested participants with the opportunity to deliver short presentations of their own, and practice the skills identified in the first half of the event.
