The Three Day Life in Detail Workshop series begins at Cambridge Muslim College on 27 November 2026. Led by Zahirah, the event teaches attendees how to create patterns on wood and apply colour. Admission costs £6.13.
27, 28, & 29 November: During this multiple day workshop series with Zahirah - learn to make pattern on wood and fill it with colour!
As an artist, infuses her creations with a modern twist, breathing new life into traditional motifs and patterns. Her work not only pays homage to the timeless beauty of Islamic art but also serves as a poignant reminder of its enduring relevance in today's rapidly evolving world. Within the workshop, Zahirah aspires to use her art to cultivate a safe space for individuals to explore mental health and emotional vulnerability, fostering a sense of community and sparking important conversations. The session will be co-led by a qualified Islamic psychologist, as a space is fostered where creation, exchange and beauty can come together to play.
Each day of this intensive will build on each other. You will need to participate in all three workshops, please consider before registering:
Friday 27 November, 16.00-18.00
Saturday 28 November, 14.00-16.00
Sunday 29 November, 14.00-16.00
Pleasee note that doors will close shortly before the advertised time, so we request that you arrive 15 minutes before the start time.
About Zahirah Hafiz
Drawing inspiration from the rich heritage of Islamic art, Manchester-based artist Zahirah Hafiz reimagines traditional motifs and patterns through a contemporary lens, celebrating their timeless beauty and relevance. Her practice began in 2016 as a way of navigating her own experiences with anxiety, leading her to discover the transformative power of art as a form of self-expression and healing. Through her work, Zahirah aims to create a safe space for exploring mental health and emotional vulnerability, fostering community and encouraging meaningful conversations.
