Explore how consciousness, imagination and the brain’s ability to envision possibilities make free will possible—and how we shape our future

Have you ever wondered if we have free will, or are we bound to act as we do by a set of biological and environmental circumstances?

Join the neuroscientist Peter Ulric Tse to explore how consciousness and imagination evolved to give us the power of choice, and ultimately, the power to shape our future. You will be lead on a fascinating journey through aspects of human evolution as well as the neuroscience of the human brain. You will also be able to experience first-hand the power that your consciousness has over your perception.

Peter Ulric Tse is one of the world's chief proponents of Free Will from the point of view of science. His approach combines neuroscientific insight and conclusions of decades of research with philosophy. He is the author of "The Neural Basis of Free Will" (2013), "A Neurophilosophy of Libertarian Free Will" (2024) and "Free Imagination: The Deep Roots of Creativity, Freedom and Meaning in the Human Brain and Mind" (2024).

Prof. Peter Ulric Tse is a Professor of Cognitive Neuroscience in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at Dartmouth College, and is giving these talks in Cambridge as a Leverhume Scholar.

These talks are free and open to the public.
