Join classic crime aficionados John Curran & David Brawn as they discuss a new volume of stories that inspired Christie's Partners in Crime.
Agatha Christie’s 'Partners in Crime' paid tribute to her crime-writing colleagues by including references to their detectives in a game of literary pastiche. These detectives and their authors were household names in the 1920s, but most are now long forgotten and the ingenuity of Christie’s parodies is lost to time.
Come along to this event and be reminded! Our expert guests John Curran and David Brawn will discuss a new collection of of classic detective stories by some of the finest authors of the Golden Age of crime fiction. They will consider how the volume shines a light both on the writers who inspired Christie, and on her own short story collection, featuring much-loved detective duo, Tommy & Tuppence.
Dr John Curran is an award-winning author, lifelong fan of Golden Age detective fiction and one of Ireland’s foremost experts on classic crime. For many years he edited the official Agatha Christie Newsletter and helped to establish the Agatha Christie Archive. He was consultant to the National Trust during the restoration of Greenway House and is in demand as a speaker on all things Christie.
David Brawn recently marked thirty years in his role as Agatha Christie’s publisher. As well as HarperCollins' Publishing Director and Head of Literary Estates, he is an authority on classic crime fiction, relaunched the Collins Classic Crime Club - and is himself an author of several books.
Tickets are £7 to include a glass of wine or soft drink.
