A short public lecture to summarise the book and drinks reception hosted in Canterbury Cathedral.

Join us in the archives and Canterbury Cathedral for a social event to celebrate the launch of this forthcoming volume of essays edited by Charlie Rozier (University of Kent) and Jesse Patrick Harrington.

Eadmer of Canterbury (1060s–1120s) occupies an important place in medieval monastic and literary history. Benedictine monk and precentor of Christ Church, Canterbury, devoted companion of archbishops Anselm and Ralph , and erstwhile bishop-elect of St. Andrews, Eadmer is remembered as the author of some twenty-six surviving works of history, hagiography, and theology, penned between the late 1080s and mid-1120s.

Charlie Rozier will offer a brief talk to summarise the aims and contents of the book, before attendees will have the chance to browse original manuscripts in Eadmer’s handwriting from the cathedral collection. After this, attendees are invited to cross over to the Refectory restaurant for a glass of champagne to celebrate.
