About This Event

We welcome Wendy Teasdill, basically BWY Royalty to South East Wales! Whether you are a Yoga teacher or a keen practitioner, it is sure to be a delight to hear Wendy deliver this fascinating CPD day. 7.5 CPD points for teachers and enhanced knowledge and inspiration for all yogis. What to expect: This will be a broad-spectrum day which aims to enhance the practice and understanding of both practitioners and teachers. The practices of the Hatha Yoga Pradipika are surprisingly accessible and a practical understanding need not be beyond anyone's capabilities: we all need to increase our space, both inner and outer; we all seek peace; and we can all benefit from the physical and metaphysical gifts of yoga as outlined in the Hatha Yoga Pradipika. Aims of the day: *To demystify the teachings of the Hatha Yoga Pradipika *To integrate awareness of the subtle aspects of yoga into general practice *To enhance self-confidence and deepen self-awareness of the subtle body as outlined in the Hatha Yoga Pradipika. Topics covered during the workshop include: Outline of the four sections of the HYP (Preparation, asanas, pranayama, mudras, bandhas, mudras and bandhas, chakras and Kundalini - and Kaivalya) Asana practice - a staged approach to integrating cleansing practices and pranayama of the HYP into the asanas of the HYP - as well as a few modern asanas eg. Ardha Chandrasana to off-set (Ardha) Matsyendrasana; Ujaiyi breath in asana; Bhramari integrated with Paschimottanasana; Viparita Karani with awareness of Vishuddhi chakra and spatial awareness in a wider, more practical context. Finding a comfortable position for specific pranayama practices with mudra and bandha, using the chakras as a map Group discussion on pranic manipulation and Kundalini - fact, fiction, myth, relevance Gentle posture work with optional chanting followed by Yoga Nidra. Wendy Teasdill Wendy has been practising yoga for over forty years with a strong Pranayama bias. Having studied extensively with the Iyengar family in India she has always paid attention to the pranic flow in asana, though since pregnancy she now practises and teaches a more fluid approach than would be indicated by her Iyengar background.
