Meet and Mingle: Founders for Positive Change
Come and join us us as we celebrate Founders for Positive Change, with a guest panel of founders, community champions, advocates and campaigners! Together, these trailblazing business founders will share their stories, insights, and lived experiences and the power of collective action to drive meaningful change.
Why Attend?
Candid Conversations: Hear seasoned entrepreneurs and mentors share their “behind-the-scenes” stories; failures, lessons, and ultimate wins.
Meaningful Networking: Meet peers who share your journey, swap strategies, and uncover potential collaborations.
Inspiration and Support: Discover the motivation to tackle hurdles head-on, with advice and stories that resonate.
Our panel include:
Lisa Hicks; During UK lockdown in 2020 founder of SNOAP Lisa was staggered by the single use plastic waste generated by her family of 5. Making changes successfully in many areas the family struggled with changing to bar soaps and shampoos due to the mess and sharing bars. Instead of giving up Lisa had an idea and SNOAP was born. SNOAP is a 2x Green Business Award Winner, has received backing from Dragon's Den investors Deborah Meaden and Peter Jones, and was awarded Theo Paphitis' Small Business Sunday award.
Laura Labonne; Laura Labonne is the Founder of Welsh education charity Romodels, which partners with schools across Wales to open up a world of career possibilities for 4–14-year-olds through its bilingual learning portal. Since launching in April 2024, Romodels has inspired over 10,000 learners to develop the knowledge, skills, and self-belief to say, “that could be me.” Prior to launching Romodels, Laura supported educational programmes in over 35 countries through her work at McKinsey, the World Bank, and Teach For All.
Julie Claydon - Ferguson; Julie moved to Neath on the very day lockdown began. A relationship therapist with a lifelong love of sport, she found herself building her practice online while witnessing first-hand how isolated people had become.Missing the camaraderie of team sport, Julie had a simple idea to help people reconnect. In September 2022, she posted in two local Facebook groups asking if anyone fancied a game of rounders. She turned up with one bat and one ball… and 152 people arrived. That post sparked MyRounders, now a thriving community of 9,000+ players, 350+ teams, spanning South Wales.
Whether you're a seasoned founder, just starting out, or exploring an idea, our Meet and Mingle's are your opportunity to gain insights, build connections, and be inspired by those walking the same entrepreneurial path.
The format of the evening will be:
6pm-6:30pm - Refreshments and networking
